A rare occasion to see this film by Aleksander Ford, made before the war, in Yiddish. Financed by the “Bund” Socialist party, this documentary with elements of fiction was made in a sanatorium for Jewish children in Miedzeszyn. It tells the story of the children’s return to health and of the rebuilding of human bonds. Asia concentrates on her job as a nurse while her daughter Vika hangs out at the skate-park with her friends. The two barely interact with one another but their routine is shaken when Vika's health suddenly deteriorates. A heartbreaking, intimate story of a mother and teen daughter belated relationship. Beautifully photographed and superbly acted, “Asia” was this year’s Israeli Oscar contender. In the role of Viki appeared Shira Haas, known for “Unorthodox” and “Shtisel”.

Sharon from Munich is Jewish and a third generation Holocaust survivor. When her estranged father contacts her again after 7 years, it becomes an impetus for to reconstruct the family's history. After having survived the Holocaust her father's parents, who were originally from Poland arrived in Munich, in the American zone. Sharon travels from place to place, from person to person trying to understand how the Shoah impacted her through transgenerational trauma. As she is living in Germany, little by little she confronts her non-Jewish German environment asking some uncomfortable questions.
