JURY AND COMPETITION 2025
The competition for the 23rd edition of the DAVID'S CAMERA – Warsaw Jewish Film Festival 2025 features 12 international full-length productions and 10 short films from: Canada, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The qualified films compete for the following awards:
- GRAND-PRIX POLIN named after Halina Paszkowska and Marian Turski, funded by the Director of the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews: 15,000 PLN.
- Award founded by The Minister of Culture and National Heritage in Poland for Best Feature Film: 10,000 PLN.
- The David's Camera Foundation Award, funded by Polish Public Television (TVP): 10,000 PLN.
The Jury's verdict will be announced during the Awards Ceremony on November 9th at the POLIN Museum, preceding the screening of the festival's closing gala film "SABBATH QUEEN."

JURY OF NARRATIVE FEATURE FILMS:
NIR FERBER – is a lecturer in film theory and holds a PhD in film studies. Alongside his academic work, he works as a film programmer and is currently a member of the curating collective for the Jewish Film Festival Berlin-Brandenburg (JFBB) and the Budapest Jewish Film Festival.
CEZARY ŁASICZKA – is a journalist at TOK FM Radio, hosting his own shows, OFF Czarek and Interluda. In these programs, he passionately explores the world of culture - from literature and architecture to cinema. Film topics, as well as filmmakers and film critics, are frequent guests on his programs.
ANNA POKŁOSIEWICZ – is a cultural expert and cultural manager, a graduate of the Institute of Polish Culture at the University of Warsaw. Professionally, she was associated with the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews for many years, where she focused on film projects, among other initiatives. Since July 2025, she has been the Head of the Education and Professional Training Department at the National Film Archive – Audiovisual Institute (FINA).
JURY OF DOCUMENTARY FEATURE FILMS:
JUSTYNA GAWEŁKO – Documentary film director and producer. A graduate of Cultural Studies at Jagiellonian University and the Script Pro screenwriting course at the Wajda School. Active in the documentary film community for a decade, she has collaborated with industry markets (CoPro Market, CEDOC) and the production company Silver Frame as a creative producer. Her directorial debut, “Czech Film” (2024), won the Audience Award at the Warsaw Jewish Film Festival and was screened at prestigious festivals in Krakow, San Francisco, Miami, and Brussels. In 2024, she received the Minister of Culture Scholarship in the Film category. She currently handles the film program at the POLIN Museum.
JAKUB KATULSKI – Political scientist and Middle Eastern cultural expert, a PhD candidate at the National Education Commission University in Krakow and a graduate of the Institute of the Middle and Far East at Jagiellonian University. He works in the Promotion and PR Department of the Galicia Jewish Museum. As a columnist, he hosts the podcast Stosunkowo Bliski Wschód (Relatively Middle East) and is a regular contributor to the weekly magazine, Przegląd.
MICHALINA MAJEWSKA – A graduate of Film Studies and History at the University of Łódź. She is the creator of the “Kino po żydowsku” (Jewish Style Cinema) project and regularly collaborates on educational and popularizing initiatives promoting Jewish cinema and culture. She currently serves as the coordinator of the Łódź branch of Hillel Poland, an organization that unites Jewish youth.
JURY OF THE BEST DOCUMENTARY SHORTS & THE BEST FICTION SHORTS:
TOMEK HAJDAS – is a student of Film Studies and New Media at Jagiellonian University, where he delves into theory, but his true passion lies in practice - he aims to work behind the camera as a cinematographer. He is already honing his filmmaking craft as part of the "First Film" program at the Władysław Ślesicki Film Foundation. In cinema, he is not looking for easy beauty; he is fascinated by cinematic "ugliness" and visual audacity. He is particularly interested in how these distinct visual tools translate into the emotional impact a film has on the viewer.
MATEUSZ SANDOMIERSKI – Photographer and filmmaker, a graduate of the Institute of Polish Culture at the University of Warsaw. In his work, he prioritizes sincerity of message and attentive observation of reality. He is also involved in marketing in his daily professional life. Participant of the "First Film" program at the Władysław Ślesicki Film Foundation.
JULIA SZAŁAJ – is a student of Film and Television Production Organization at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School in Katowice. She is actively involved in student productions as well as the production of documentary films. Participant of the "First Film" program at the Władysław Ślesicki Film Foundation.
