FATHER AND SON

dir. Paweł Łoziński, Poland, 2013, 54 min

The screening is presented as part of the special WJFF project "Decades. 1945-2013". After the film, psycho-traumatologist Małgorzata Wosińska will hold a discussion with Paweł Łoziński.

Two outstanding documentary filmmakers: father and son – Marcel and Paweł Łoziński – set off on a trip in an iconic Volkswagen camper. They travel to Paris, Marcel's birthplace and the city where he scattered his mother's ashes. The journey provides the backdrop for a conversation about the father-son relationship; the confined space of the camper and the long road through Europe make it impossible to escape difficult questions. Originally, only one film was planned, but two were made from the footage shot in 2010... Paweł Łoziński's work is a record of his difficult relationship with his father, who in many cases was a role model and a point of reference for him, but at the same time made mistakes that seem particularly glaring to the son. Issues of disappointment, parental divorce, egoism, and lack of security are presented differently by representatives of the two generations. What is supposed to be private becomes public, appearing on the cinema screen...
