IDEA AND MISSION

Warsaw Jewish Film Festival (WJFF) has been a destination for international award-winning films on Jewish topics and themes since 2003, which makes it the oldest festival of this kind in Poland and Eastern Europe.

Festival has nearly 20 years of experience in offering the finest film & educational programs to audiences across Warsaw city and Poland-wide. Since its first edition has welcomed hundreds of thousands of filmgoers and guests from around the world, and presented over 650 international films from nearly 30 countries, which were selected at the world famous film festivals. Films that premiered at the WJFF have gone on to win major awards worldwide (The Academy Award-winning films: Ida, West Bank Story, The Pianist).

The Festival has grown to include a variety of arts and media – from film workshops and student film productions, through culinary workshops, online screenings & live webinars, to a music performances and photo exhibits.

The Festival also prides itself on its in-depth post-screening conversations with filmmakers and other experts run throughout the year in few other cities in Poland as: Krakow, Wroclaw, Plonsk, Lodz, Gdansk.

OUR MISSION

Promoting Jewish culture and history, presenting the diversity of Jewish communities in Poland and worldwide, preserving the Jewish heritage in Poland, and cultivating the memory of the Holocaust.

Our goal is to give Jewish and non-Jewish filmgoers the opportunity to get acquainted with a different perspective of Jewish issues reflected on the screen. Furthermore, our goal is to offer compelling and memorable film programs to as large an audience as possible.

We encourage our audience to a discussion about Jewish identity and to strive against stereotypes and anti-Semitism, in order to stimulate more tolerant attitudes and a greater respect for the human rights of all people and nations.
