MIKOŁAJ TRZASKA – SPECIAL GUEST OF THE OPENING GALA
On November 3rd at 7:00 PM at the POLIN Museum, we will open the 23rd edition of the Warsaw Jewish Film Festival with a gala dedicated to the memory of Marian Turski, a man whose voice and moral stance will forever remain with us.
During the evening, Mikołaj Trzaska will perform a piece specially composed for Marian Turski - a musical tribute to his life, courage, and testimony.
Mikołaj Trzaska is also the subject of one of the films in this year’s program: “Featuring Mikołaj Trzaska” (Dir. Michael Rubenfeld, Poland, 2024, 21 min). The film will be screened on November 8th at the POLIN Museum as part of the documentary shorts in competition for the Best Documentary Short: SHORTS WJFF: DOCUMENTARY.
OPENING GALA FILM
Following the official opening ceremony, we invite you to the screening of the film “My Happiest Day. Marian Turski” (Dir. Michał Bukojemski, Poland, 2013, 67' min') - an intimate and moving portrait of Turski, who described that day as one of the most difficult, yet most important, moments of his life.
This poignant testimony allows us to meet once again the man who spent his life reminding the world: "Thou shalt not be indifferent."
A discussion will follow the screening, featuring:
- Jerzy Baczyński, Editor-in-Chief of Tygodnik Polityka
- Zygmunt Stępiński, Director of the POLIN Museum
- Joanna Turska, Daughter of Marian Turski
- Moderator: Joanna Fikus, Vice-Chairwoman of the Board of the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute.
For 23 years, the Warsaw Jewish Film Festival has reminded us that cinema can be a space for dialogue, memory, and encounter. Join us!
