OTHER PROJECTS

The mission of the Warsaw Jewish Film Festival is to uphold Jewish cultural heritage through film art and to enable Polish audiences to have contact with the most interesting and latest films on this subject. Every year we are visited by several thousand viewers, to whom we try to show the history, culture and contemporary life of Jews from diasporas and Israel. We fulfill this goal by organizing various types of events that present both history and everyday life in an attractive way.

FILM SCREENINGS ALL OVER POLAND

Film screenings take place in various regions of Poland to enable access to culture for as many people as possible. We operate in the USA, Israel, Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, Gdańsk, Kielce as well as in small towns such as Brzostek in Podkarpacie, Milanówek near Warsaw. People and ideas are the most important for us. We want to combine, not divide. We want to confront the perspective of big-city centers with the problems of small local communities. Our ambition is to create the broadest possible platform for dialogue and meetings.

EDUCATION

The festival is not only about films, but also workshops aimed at developing passion. In 2017, the Camera of David WJFF Foundation and the Warsaw Jewish Film Festival started an educational program supported by the Foundation of BZWBK Santander Bank: "Bank of Ambitious Youth". It was a join implementation of an innovative educational and training programs aimed at young people. We organized educational screenings in schools, contacted film workshops and panel discussions for teenagers and students all over Poland.

Additionally, we are a partner of a unique program of supporting and educating young film talents in cooperation with Jerusalem Film Workshop and Jerusalem Film Festival, with whom we organized the Polish edition of Jerusalem Film Workshop. As part of the workshops, the participants got to know Israel, perfected their workshop and jointly made 5 films, the Polish premiere of which took place during the 15th edition of the Festival at the POLIN Museum.

OUR GOAL

We want to popularize various aspects of Jewish life and their culture, which is why we organize workshops, discussions as well as writing, film and even culinary panels. Our goal is to enable Polish audiences to have contact with the most interesting and newest films on Jewish issues from around the world. We want to show productions that tell about the tradition and history of Jews from various diasporas and the state of Israel, as well as those that allow you to get to know contemporary Jewish life. We believe that the films we offer to our viewers build attitudes of tolerance, openness to otherness and are an important element in the fight against anti-Semitism. During the 19 editions to date, we have presented over 670 films from nearly 30 countries and rewarded productions that were later appreciated at the world's largest festivals - they won, among others, Oscars and Golden Lions. Every year, we are visited by several thousand viewers, to whom we try to show the history, culture and contemporary life of Jews from diasporas and Israel.

Our partners are festivals from US, Israel and Europe: Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival, Jerusalem Film Festival, Jewish Festival Berlin & Brandenburg, Jewish Film Festival Budapest, Barcelona Jewish Film Festival, Copenhagen Jewish Film Festival, Vienna Jewish Film Club.
